Classic Scone Recipe

make something delicious-01.jpg

500g Plain Flour

17g Baking Powder

Pinch of Salt

100g Caster Sugar

100g Diced Butter

250ml Milk

For the egg Wash:

2 Egg yolks

10ml milk

Pinch of sugar

  1. Sieve the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a bowl.

  2. Using your fingertips, rub the butter into the flour until it’s well combined.

  3. Add the milk and mix well.

  4. Once it starts to come together, turn it out on to a lightly floured surface and knead gently until it forms a soft, smooth dough. Wrap in cling film and chill for one hour.

  5. Preheat the oven to 200C/gas mark 6.

  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 2.5cm and cut into rounds with a 5cm cutter.

  7. Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  8. Now mix the egg wash ingredients together in a small bowl and brush the top of each scone, twice.

  9. Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown.

  10. When serving your scones, remember to do it the Cornish way: the jam first, then the Rodda’s!

National Cream
Tea Day

Its the most delicious day of the calendar year. Dig out your finest tea set and crockery, and invite your friends (virtually) to join you for a summer soiree, whilst raising some money for a worthy cause. It’s time to celebrate the cream tea in all its glory.

Charity Cream
Teas

Each year 50,000 portions of jam and cream are given by Tiptree and Rodda's Clotted Cream to charities nationwide, helping to raise money for charity. Last year, the Society supported 57 charity events on National Cream Tea Day alone.
